As we move from vision to reality, I am called to share some thoughts, perhaps more than thoughts, an intention, a long-held desire, made manifest. Not all visions are shouted. Some are grown slowly and quietly beneath the surface.
What follows is a reflection grounded in hope and a desire for an entity —a way of coming together that eschews convention and tradition, a paradigm shift from what has been to what might become, is becoming.
First Imagining
When I first imagined the Greensboro Holistic Collective (GHC), I didn’t see an institution.
I felt a network.
A shared rhythm.
A kind of soil — rich with care, trust, and possibility.
I believe healing isn’t a transaction. It’s a return.
A return to breath, to body, to land, to one another.
And I believe healing moves like water — soft and steady, reshaping even the most entrenched attitudes and ways of being. It is the flow of care and generosity that wears down the boulders of abject self-interest.
A Living Vision
I hold a vision of GHC as a kind of mycelial network — not loud, not centralized, but deeply connected. A place where nourishment moves quietly through conversations, offerings, gestures, and shared community. Where wisdom is carried from root to root, becoming the very foundation from which the community thrives – together.
A Belief In Rooted Care
I believe this Collective can be a space where wholeness is not demanded but allowed, nurtured, and honored.
Where people soften, pause, and listen – to themselves and each other – with presence.
Where practitioners feel supported, not depleted.
Where those needing care feel safe, affirmed, honored, and met where they are.
Where co-creative community feels possible, and every gift of time and talent is respected and valued.
The Evolution of Becoming
I don’t think we need to rush to define it.
Like any living thing, GHC will grow by being tended — generously, in rhythm with what is affirming, authentic, creative, supportive, sustainable, and resilient.
And yes, I believe in compost.
That rich, nourishing substance born from detritus and decay.
That which is raging against its own ending — separation, domination, division, isolation, exploitation — can feed something softer, more humane, more connecting, more enduring.
Tending the Ground of GHC
I am committed to nurturing this community alongside you—offering structure where it’s helpful, holding space where it’s needed, and staying grounded in the long rhythm of care.
